This session focuses on the work of the IMS Global Learning Consortium and Credential Engine and their missions to advance ed-tech interoperability, innovation, and learning impact. In particular, this event provides a deep dive into the important work that IMS and its members are contributing to the skills ecosphere to enable all students to share their achievements and outcomes of their lifelong learning with employers. Mark Leuba, Vice President, Product Management, IMS Global Learning Consortium

Mark is a technology leader in education, with particular expertise in online higher education. Since 2015 Mr. Leuba has led IMS Global’s Digital Credentials Program and Product Management for the non-profit standards body. Through his former consulting firm, Pathway Technology Partners, Mark provided advisory and strategy services for leading institutions, foundations, non-profit, and for-profit education organizations. At IMS, Mark and the IMS team have led the Comprehensive Learner Record standard published in August 2019, the officially designated standard of AACRAO, the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers. From 2005-2010 Mr. Leuba was VP and CIO for American Public University System.

Dr. Jeff Grann, Credential Solutions Lead, Credential Engine

Jeff Grann is the Credential Solutions Lead for Credential Engine, where he advances systems of trust that incent adult development and empower learners to reach their potential. He currently works with the higher education industry to advance the goal of publishing to the registry, setting standards, improving data integration and interoperability, and realizing use cases that improve credential decision making. Previously, Jeff worked at Capella University on a synergistic mix of academic and technical projects related to competency-based education. From 2005 to 2018, he defined and led the implementation of Capella University’s fully-embedded assessment system and its competency map, and most recently served as Academic Director of Assessment and Learning Analytics. He also has several years of teaching experience with traditional college students, adult learners, and higher education professionals. Jeff holds a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Minnesota, and works remotely for Credential Engine from White Bear Lake, Minnesota.

Suzanne Carbonaro, Director of Academic Partnerships, AEFIS

Suzanne Carbonaro, M.Ed, MS, CE School Administrator, is the Director of Academic Partnerships at AEFIS. Suzanne has 27 years experience in higher education teaching, curriculum design, assessment and leadership. Most recently, Suzanne served as the Director of Assessment at the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy at the University of the Sciences where she designed the real-time assessment process for the newly implemented competency-driven doctor of pharmacy curriculum. She came to USciences from Rider University where she served as Director of Assessment and Strategic Partnerships at the College of Education. Here she redesigned their assessment process and managed over a million dollars in grants. Suzanne has led successful self-studies and re-accreditation efforts for the doctor of pharmacy and teacher and leader education programs. She is a proud member of the team who successfully received the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) 2019 Award for Excellence in Assessment. Suzanne was invited to present her research and development of Comprehensive Learner Records (CLRs) to IMS Global at the 2018 Learning Analytics Summit, 2019 IMS Global Digital Credentials Summit and was a finalist for Learning Impact Awards at the Leadership Institute in May 2019. She received the USciences 2018 Founder’s Day Award for Innovation and has presented at AALHE (2018, 2019, 2020), Drexel Assessment Conference (2018, 2019, 2020), IUPUI (2018, 2019, 2020), AACP (2019) as well as regional assessment conferences, and the Competency-Based Education Network (2019, 2020).
