August 11, 2021 @ 2:00 PM 2:45 PM EDT

Description

Lightning Talks are short, targeted presentations that provide insight into best practices, challenges, and successes in assessment. Listen in as some of the greatest minds and thought leaders share authentic assessment processes, continuous improvement stories, and innovative approaches toward lifelong learning and student success.

As campuses provide more digital delivery models and resources such as online textbooks, digital progress dashboards, and skills portfolios to enhance student learning, accessibility plans are being revised to ensure that all students can easily access what they need to be successful. This Lightning Talk will kick off a new series on AEFIS Academy entitled “Accessibility and Assessment.” Here community leader and champion in learner and learning accessibility, Tracy Kaiser-Goebel will provide a history and current status of the accessibility regulations, resources, and best practices in higher education. She will provide a particular focus on the advancements made to the accessibility of learning resources for all students using applications of universal design for learning and current literature applied to strategies to support your accessibility plans and offerings for students.

Presenter

Ms. Tracy Kaiser-Goebel, Director of Educational Effectiveness, Montgomery County Community College

I began my career in higher education in 1997, as an adjunct instructor.  While working in this role, I developed an interest in academic assessment.  This led me to expand my focus and accept a position as an Educational Coordinator in 2004, to learn and engage in academic assessment, working with Disability Services on accommodations and course differentiation, as well as curriculum mapping/development.  A lifelong learner, these experiences helped me develop a strong connection with the needs of today's college faculty and students, and a broad view of best practices in planning and implementing continuous improvements.
