Lightning Talks are short, targeted presentations that provide insight into best practices, challenges, and successes in assessment. Listen in as some of the greatest minds and thought leaders share authentic assessment processes, continuous improvement stories, and innovative approaches toward lifelong learning and student success.
This presentation focuses on New Mexico State University Alamagordo’s assessment process that went from manual to digital using a pragmatic change management structure led by Dr. Hill. Dr. Hill will share out her success story in creating a culture of assessment that faculty and staff are not only embracing but are owning as their continuous improvement process to support student learning and lifelong success.

Dr. Joyce Hill, Director of Assessment, New Mexico State University-Alamogordo
I was born in Roswell, New Mexico about the time the aliens left. I have lived in New Mexico all of my life and love this 'Land of Enchantment'. I received my Ph.D. from New Mexico State University in 2004. I have been an elementary school teacher, an Educational Diagnostician, and a midlevel administrator for our NMSU campus in Alamogordo, New Mexico. Currently, I am the Director of Assessment for the campus with a grand total of one person in my department–me!
