Lightning Talks are short, targeted presentations that provide insight into best practices, challenges, and successes in assessment. Listen in as some of the greatest minds and thought leaders share authentic assessment processes, continuous improvement stories and innovative approaches toward lifelong learning and student success.

These days, data is all around us – and each day more data is created than we can effectively use. Student data is no exception and student surveys are one of the more important data points for your institution. They highlight your students’ voices and play a key role in the assessment process. However, hours are often spent working with data on spreadsheets rather than analyzing the results for meaningful use – leading to spreadsheet purgatory. In this session, we examine a framework for survey data lifecycle management to create reproducible, evergreen processes. We will connect practitioners with a framework that allows them to streamline their data processing so they can spend more time analyzing and presenting data. Participants will learn how to build a system that allows you to have more time analyzing data rather than building reports from scratch.

Mr. Mark Green, Director of Institutional Research, Holy Family University

Mark Green serves as the Director of Institutional Research at Holy Family University where he focuses on data visualization and analysis techniques to help connect his colleagues to the meaningful data. He earned his Masters of Science in Higher Education with a Certificate of Institutional Research at the Florida State University. Early in his career, he worked in student conduct offices where he first became interested in developing assessment methods for the co-curricular. He was recognized with the 2010 Florida State University Hardee Research Award; the 2013 Association for Student Conduct Administrators New Professional of the Year Award, largely for his work in developing assessment tools; and the 2017 Drexel University Physician Assistant’s Nathaniel Alston Service Award, for his work in assisting their assessment practices. Most recently he was recognized for his teaching with the 2020 Samuel Mercer Jr Teaching Award at Drexel University. In addition, Mark Green has served as a site evaluator for the Middle States Commission on Higher Education since 2016. When he’s not delving into data, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two kids. He is an avid runner and can be found running around the city of Philadelphia.
